Windsor Ambulances to be fitted with cameras and panic strips

After seeing an
increase in the number of assaults on staff, cameras and 'panic strips' are now
being fitted to new ambulances. All the new double-crewed ambulances are being
fitted with four cameras positioned inside the vehicles, side and rear doors
and in the cab. The cameras have to be pressed to record the incident and
covers images good enough to be used in court.
Between April 1st
and August 31st, there have been 25 assaults on staff from South
Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SCAS). The number has doubled since last
year.

I actually agree with you on this. It should be much more than just a 'slap on the wrist'.

ReportIt really is a sad state of affairs when action like this has to be taken. I guess much of the violence is drink related. They should sober people up after they are taken into hospital with the bill for the cost of the care. As for anyone attacking hospital or ambulance staff, the sentences on convictions should be increased.
