Windsor Residents supports Speed Cameras Operations

After following the public consultation on road safety in
the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, the cabinet members held a meeting
tonight to discuss speed camera operations. Council officers have recommended having
twenty-six fixed camera sites across the Royal Borough and further police
enforcement by having twenty approved mobile locations where police can use
hand-held kit to capture fast drivers. This comes into light after reports
showed nearly £1.8 million fines and fees and speeding awareness course
attendance being paid by motorists in the Borough between 2006 and 2010.
It has been reported that road safety has been a concern for
majority of the residents living in the Borough, who would support this
proposal of speed cameras in their areas.
