Last year a campaign was set up to collect 100,000 signatures to make Saint George's Day a public holiday. It is running on the government website and will close on August 2012. If there are 100,000 or more signatures collected, a discussion will be held in the House of Commons whether to accredit Saint George with a public holiday.
