Daniel has geared up for the Olympics but the Olympics related products aren't exactly enticing. London Olympics Jigsaw, seriously?? The soft toys are expensive, with one fetching at aroun £43! Overall, very boring.

This is a second review I am writing for Daniel in many months and I don't see any improvement from my previous visit. I visited the store last weekend with my friend and my friend told me that one of the customer advisors was glaring at her. I dismissed it saying that perhaps she was misreading her facial experession. But as I shopped around, I noticed majority (not all) did not smile at their customers.
Daniel is a hugely popular store and I don't think it would hurt if their staff could smile at their customers. It would make the shopping experience much more pleasant.
I love shopping at Daniel like most people, however what I didn't like about Daniel was sales advisors approaching customers before closing time to tell them shop is closed. I experienced this last week when there was still good fifteen minutes left until closing time. The sales advisor did not say shop was closing soon but said it was closed.
At the time I had two items of clothes I wanted to try before buying and because of her curt manner; I put it back on the rack. Had the sales advisor not approached me, I would have brought something and it would have been a sale for them. They lost my custom because of that.
Its a great department store but they need to focus more on customer service and then they should be fine.
A fantastic independent department store, done the traditional way with well-presented, knowledgeable staff and a good range of high quality stock from furniture and homeware to gifts and clothing. I agree with Neil_Man that the toy section is pretty much unbeatable and has so much to offer. A must visit on the run up to the festive season.
This large department store on Peascod Street is very difficult to miss. With several entrances on both sides of the store, it is one of the town centre's biggest shops.
Daniel sells everything from clothes to lingerie to furniture and sportswear. But it is the toy section that is the most impressive. Selling model cars and airplanes, to a range of boardgames, TV, film and comic book inspired merchandise and even fancy-dress.
There is also a cafe for those wanting to spend half-a-day there taking in the whole Daniel experience.
