The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead
have given residents the right to decide on how the £300, 000 tax payers' money
should be spent. They have launched consultation entitled 'Your Local Budget'
in which they have come up with two schemes and want the residents to have a
say on how and where the money should be spent. One scheme offers £125,000 for
borough-wide projects that will include facilities for young people, street
cleaning, improved car parking facilities, highway maintenance and planting of
trees. The other scheme offers £125,000 for areas of Maidenhead, Windsor and
Ascot/The Sunnings and offer improved parking in Windsor or improving bench
facilities in Maidenhead. The residents will be receiving the consultation
forms within two weeks.
The council Leader David Burbage wants local
people to participate in how they feel where the money should be spent. This is
an opportunity for the local residents to have their say and to get benefit out
of this. The residents have until Friday 17th June to take part. For
